Want to talk about my country ...
San Donato is a village of old houses, set against the slopes of the Apennines, on the cliffs of Monte Pizzuto covered with beech woods. To the south it opens like a basin, the Val di Comino, with its dirt roads and iridescent green and yellow fields to the north, beyond the mountains, here ill Parco Nazionale d'Abruzzo, Lazio side in her. Within this landscape, 700 m above sea level, the village is a maze of stone characterized by winding streets, alleys, covered passages - spuort 'in dialect -, squares, in a perfect medieval design that had defensive needs and conditions. The name derives from the cult of San Donato Val di Comino Arezzo imported by the Lombard dukes of Spoleto in the eighth century.
